本教材由口語篇、閱讀篇與應用文寫作篇組成。其中，口語篇由7個單元組成，包括汽車工程、機械電控、土木建築、生物化工、經濟管理、藝術、電腦科學與技術學科方向，其特點在於融合文、理、工學科，綜合編寫，方便學生進行交叉學科資料的查閱和學習。每個單元包含2—4個相關話題和科技英語相關知識的介紹，每個話題由兩篇對話、生詞表、專有名詞、常用句型和練習組成。口語篇共有25個話題和7個科技英語方面知識介紹。閱讀篇由11個單元組成，每個單元分Text A和Text B，包含基礎閱讀和專業閱讀文章，話題涵蓋語言學、天文學、心理學、文化、機械工程、自動化工程、土木工程、電子與電腦工程、經濟與管理。應用文寫作篇由6個單元組成，涵蓋說明文、簡歷、通知、常用信函、摘要及參考文獻寫作基本知識介紹。
