    《李白詩集》是日本學者小?薰良對中國詩歌傾心研究、翻譯的一部力作,在李白外譯過程中佔有首創地位,直到60年後,路易·艾黎、孫瑜英譯的李白詩歌譯集方才相繼出現。除了首次向西方全面介紹李白,小?薰良英譯《李白詩集》還為中國古代典籍中個人專集的譯介提供了範式,進而首次引發中國學者對中國典籍英譯的熱烈討論。
    小?非常尊重中國文化,將李白詩歌英譯置於唐朝的歷史語境。他採用深度翻譯策略,將翻譯和研究融為一體,以便西方讀者更加客觀、翔實、深入地了解李白其人其文。該譯本不是單純的英譯集,而是以124首譯詩為主體,其中包括8首由杜甫等人創作的與李白有關的詩歌以及3篇節譯的李白傳記。另外還附加序言、導讀、註釋、參考文獻、索引等資料,體裁涉及樂府、歌行、律詩、絕句、古風。小?詳細說明了譯介李白詩歌的來龍去脈以及自己的翻譯詩學觀,並且介紹了李白詩歌創作的時代背景和風格特徵等內容。這些副文本有助於深化西方讀者對李白及其詩歌藝術的理解,也體現出小?譯研並舉的厚實功底。
