對於中醫藥來說，只有實現「走出去」，才能獲得更快的發展和更大的空間。「未來10年是實現中醫藥全面走向國際、在世界範圍獲得豐富與發展的關鍵時期。」「世界中醫學專業核心課程教材」項目正是在此背景下啟動的。世界中醫學教育快速發展，各國中醫學教育亟需具有學術權威的規範教材。編譯「世界中醫學專業核心課程教材」，是對《世界中醫學本科（CMD前）教育標準》《世界中醫學專業核心課程》等標準的具體落實。本套教材英文翻譯採用《中醫基本名詞術語中英對照國際標準》。本套教材的出版和全球發行，可擴大中國文化、中華文明的國際影響力，對中醫藥「走出去」和中國出版「走出去」具有重要的現實意義，且在世界中醫藥教育史上具有里程碑意義，核心課程教材的編譯，擬利用好世界衛生組織、ISO等國際組織平台，致力於中醫藥國際標準的制定、參與國際中醫藥發展秩序的重建等，使中醫學教育能登堂入室，推動世界中醫藥的大發展。出版本套教材是解決中醫國際化關鍵問題的有力措施。本書是黃帝內經選讀，供中醫學、針灸學和推拿學專業用。

張伯禮，1948年2月出生於天津，中國中醫科學院院長，天津中醫藥大學校長、教授、博士生導師，中國工程院院士，國家重點學科「中醫內科學」學科帶頭人，中國中西醫結合學會副會長，中華中醫藥學會副會長，《國家中長期科技發展規劃綱要(2006—2020)》「重大新葯創製」專項技術副總師。張院士從醫40余年，主要從事中西醫結合防治心腦血管疾病和中醫藥現代化研究，連續承擔兩批973項目，培養博士、碩士研究生150余名；獲國家科技進步獎5項，省部級科技進步一、二等獎20項，獲何粱何利基金醫學藥學獎；還獲得了國家有突出貢獻的中青年專家、全國先進工作者、全國衛生系統先進工作者、全國優秀科技工作者、全國傑出專業技術人才等榮譽稱號。享受國務院政府特殊津貼。
