    本書從心理學和腦科學兩個方面對中國外語學習者的學業延遲滿足、自我調節學習、未來時間洞察力這三個對學生學業成就具有重要影響的因素進行了全面研究:第一,本書從對學業延遲滿足、自我調節學習、未來時間洞察力的概念和研究發展等情況進行了文獻綜述;第二,根據中國外語學習者的特點編製了學業延遲滿足和自我調節學習策略的專用量表,並通過統計驗證了量表的信度和效度;第三,通過問卷調查、訪談、記錄、測試實驗等方法調查並分析了三要素之間的相互關係,以及每個要素對外語學習者聽說讀寫譯五項成績的影響,並設計了因果關係模型圖,驗證了三要素之間的因果關係,以及它們是如何交互作用干外語學習者的學業成績的;第四,通過對先前研究的匯總,歸納了學業延遲滿足、自我調節學習和未來時間洞察力的神經機制;第五,根據本書的系列結論,對外語教師提出建議,並且針對學生的學習拖延行為提出了相關解決的對策。
