《世界經典英語課文選讀(13級下推薦閱讀大學1年級)》根據文章主題、體裁、長度、難易度等進行編排，力求符合語言認知和學習的規律，充分考慮學習的連貫性、知識點的復現性、思辨能力培養的複雜性。
編者結合選文內容，將其劃歸為不同單元，以便於學習者在同一主題下，閱讀數篇不同類型的文章，建構主題語義網，豐富相關領域的知識，學會從多維視角探索分析問題。本書包含8個主題單元，每單元合數篇選文。每篇選文包括課文導讀、正文、註釋、讀後練習四個板塊。
導讀部分重點介紹文本類型、內容提要、主題概述、寫作特點、薦讀理由以及閱讀建議等。對於知名作者也會提綱挈領，扼要梳理其代表作與藝術風格。
正文部分以邊注形式註釋生詞的詞性和釋義。部分意義較複雜的生詞採用漢語釋義，其餘生詞採用英漢雙語釋義。釋義均為詞語在選文語境中的含義，以幫助學生掌握相關知識點、準確理解原文。
文化註釋部分對文化知識、難句與重點句等提供註解，包括語言背景知識介紹、修辭手法闡釋、難句與重點句分析及其漢語翻譯等，並簡要分析課文中出現的代表性人物、事件等，以增強學生的跨文化交際意識和溝通能力。
讀後練習部分包含題型多樣的練習，夯實語言基礎，啟發學習者表達自己的思想和觀點，培養其辯證思維和創新能力。書後附有練習題的參考答案。
