聖地亞哥·博納爾(Santiago Bernal),1981年在哥倫比亞波哥大的國立哥倫比亞大學獲得物理學學士學位,1983年獲得喬治亞理工學院的物理學碩士學位,1999年獲得馬里蘭大學學院的物理學博士學位。他是在已故的馬丁·賴澤(Martin Rei-ser)教授的指導下攻讀博士學位。在馬里蘭大學攻讀研究生之前,博納爾曾在哥倫比亞和波多黎各教授大學物理和數學課程。博納爾于2000年加入UMER小組進行博士后的研究,後來成為電子與應用物理研究所(IREAP)的研究科學家。他參與了UMER的設計和建設,並且一直是該項目的首席實驗物理學家。博納爾幫助UMER為2008年美國粒子加速器學校組織和開展了實驗課程。除了束和加速器物理,博納爾還對統計力學和物理教育的各個方面感興趣。
