《新編大學英語》(第四版)是針對全國普通高等院校學生編寫的一套立體化通用英語教材。教材設有1-3級，供1-2個學年使用。每一級別包含《綜合教程》(配教師用書)、《視聽說教程》(配教師用書)、《文化閱讀教程》等。教材以立德樹人為宗旨，以提升學生的語言綜合運用能力為重點，兼顧思辨能力與跨文化交際能力的培養，為新時代高校師生提供全新的大學英語教與學的體驗。
教材在設計編寫過程中始終貫徹立德樹人的根本任務，將知識傳授、能力培養與價值塑造相結合。同時，教材注重體現中華優秀文化，引導學生堅定文化自信，培養家國情懷。
教材體現外語教學改革方向，充分吸收《中國英語能力等級量表》的研究成果，在提升學生各項語言技能的同時，引導他們學以致用，提高語言綜合運用能力。
教材設計繼續秉承「以學生為中心」的教學理念，並進一步豐富其內涵。主題與素材符合新時代大學生的認知和興趣；練習活動契合學生的學習實際、發展期待和時代使命。
教材提供數字課程、微課視頻、移動學習應用等豐富的多媒體、互動式、個性化教學資源；同時，依托科學高效的教學管理平台，聯動課內課外、線上線下，支持教師智慧教學，方便學生自主學習。
