漢斯·克里斯蒂安·安徒生(1805-1875),丹麥19世紀著名的童話作家,既是世界文學童話的代表人物之一,也是個虔誠的基督教徒,被譽為「世界兒童文學的太陽」。他出生於歐登塞城一個貧窮的鞋匠家庭,童年生活貧苦。父親是鞋匠,母親是傭人。早年在慈善學校讀過書,當過學徒工。受父親和民間口頭文學影響,他從小愛文學。11歲時父親病逝,母親改嫁。為追求藝術,他14歲時隻身來到首都哥本哈根。經過8年奮鬥,終於在詩劇《阿爾芙索爾》中嶄露才華。因此,被皇家藝術劇院送進斯拉格爾塞文法學校和赫爾辛歐學校免費就讀。歷時5年。1828年,升入哥本哈根大學。畢業后始終無工作,主要靠稿費維持生活。1838年獲得作家獎金——國家每年撥給他200元非公職津貼。
安徒生文學生涯始於1822年的編寫劇本。進入大學后,創作日趨成熟。曾發表遊記和歌舞喜劇,出版詩集和詩劇。1833年出版長篇小說《即興詩人》,為他贏得國際聲譽,是他成人文學的代表作。他最著名的童話故事有《小錫兵》、《海的女兒》、《拇指姑娘》、《賣火柴的小女孩》、《醜小鴨》、《皇帝的新裝》等。安徒生生前曾得到皇家的致敬,並被高度讚揚:給全歐洲的一代孩子帶來了歡樂。他的作品《安徒生童話》已經被譯為150多種語言,成千上萬冊童話書在全球陸續發行和出版。
