為滿足新時代英語專業人才培養的需要，充分體現教材在文學教學與研究中的意義和價值，本教材精選了十余篇英美文學史上不同流派的代表性小說作品，從作者簡介、故事梗概、小說背景、結構與矛盾衝突、重大主題、主要人物分析、具體章節分析等方面對其進行介紹和分析。本教材旨在更好地培養學生閱讀理解英語文學原著的能力，幫助學生掌握文學批評的基本知識和方法，同時促進學生語言認知能力和人文素養的提高，並增強學生的跨文化交流能力。《英美經典小說賞析（第二版）》不僅吸收了近幾年國內外英美文學研究的最新成果，加大了現、當代小說所占比例，使得學生能夠接觸和學習更富時代氣息、更為實用的語言素材，而且還兼顧了內容的趣味性和語言的優美流暢性，有助於廣大師生在英語語言和文學的教與學過程中潛移默化地構建賞析、評論文學作品的能力。

張文，武漢理工大學外國語學院英語系教師。外國文學與認知心理學博士，英國牛津大學和愛爾蘭聖三一大學訪問學者，都柏林大學心理學研究員，英國卡迪夫大學認知神經科學研究所研究員。主要研究方向為外國文學研究、跨文化研究、大腦神經與認知心理學研究、教育心理學研究等。主持科技部外專項目2項，出版學術專著1部，主編教材7部。
